The Predictive Power of Digital Game Addiction on Trait Anger Levels Among Pre-Service Teachers

Öz

This research aims to investigate whether digital game addiction predicts trait anger levels among pre-service teachers. The research was conducted at a state university during the 2024-2025 academic year, with the participation of 629 pre-service teachers. A personal information form, the Digital Game Addiction Scale for University Students, and the Trait Anger Scale were used. Following the receipt of institutional and ethical approvals, data were gathered online from volunteer pre-service teachers. Descriptive statistics, ANOVA, independent samples t-test, correlation and regression analysis were made. The study determined that pre-service teachers were in the low-risk group regarding digital game addiction. Their trait anger level was found to be X̅=21.32 (R²=0.05). Significant differences were found in pre-service teachers' trait anger levels according to some variables. There is a significant and positive, but low-level, relationship between digital game addiction and trait anger levels. The findings indicate that digital game addiction is a significant predictor of trait anger levels.
