UNDERSTANDING OF AMALGAMATION AND THE PROBLEM OF ADJECTIVES

Öz

The central concern of al-Fârâbî’s thought is to reconcile religion and philosophy. While making this effort, he tried to develop a new way of thinking by using the main principles of philosophy without any concessions to the principles of Islamic belief. He set a diffi cult target like expounding Aristoteles with the title of Muallim-i Sânî (Second teacher), and he became successful. Fârâbî’s way of thinking that appears within this context is to re-explain the principle of Allah’s uniqueness (amalgamation), which constitutes the core of Islam’s principles with a philosophical interpretation. Considering his explanation of matter of adjectives; our philosopher thought that the problem discussed by the classic Islamic thought as subjective and essential adjectives caused the acceptance of God confi ned to a conceptual knot and considered the adjectives that belong to Allah as traits exclusive to Allah. Accordingly, Fârâbî accepted the consideration related to the existence of adjectives as the existence-structure unity contrary to the subject-adjective separation. According to Fârâbî who saw that the matter of adjectives resulted in the semantic inadequacy of the concepts in the relative sense, Allah’s uniqueness explains the existence reason for the whole universe and the superiority out of the uniqueness proves the uniqueness itself.

FÂRÂBÎ’NİN TEVHİD ANLAYIȘI VE SIFATLAR MESELESİ FÂRÂBÎ’S

Öz

Fârâbî düşüncesinin temelinde din ile felsefenin uzlaştırılması yatmaktadır. Bu işi yaparken o, İslam’ın inanç esaslarından taviz vermeden, felsefenin temel ilkelerini kullanarak yeni bir düşünce tarzı geliştirme çabası içine girmiştir. Muallim-i sânî (İkinci öğretmen) unvanlıyla Aristo’yu şerh etmek gibi zor bir işe kalkışmış ve bunda da başarılı olmuştur. Fârâbî’nin düşünce tarzı, İslam inanç esaslarının özünü teşkil eden Allah’ın birliği (tevhid) ilkesini, felsefi bir yorum ile yeniden açıklamaktadır. Onun sıfatlar meselesine getirdiği izahata bakılacak olursa; fi lozofumuz, klasik İslamî düşüncenin zâtî ve subûti sıfatlar olarak tartıştığı problemin, kavram çıkmazına hapsedilmiş bir Tanrı kabulüne sebep olduğunu dü- şünerek, Allah’a ait sıfatları, O’nun zâtına münhasır özellikleri olarak anlamıştır. Dolayısıyla Fârâbî sıfatların varlığına ilişkin kabulü, zât-sıfat ayrılığının aksine, varlık-mahiyet birlikteliği olarak kabul etmiş- tir. Sıfatlar meselenin, izafî bağlamda kavramların anlam yetersizliğiyle neticelendiğini gören Fârâbî’ye göre, Allah’ın birliği bütün âlemin varlık sebebini açıklamakta, birlikten taşan çokluk ise birliğin kendisini ispat etmektedir.
