Analysis of The Economic Stabilızation Policy in Cameroon: Strategies, Limits and Challenges

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyse the stabilisation policy implemented by the Cameroonian government and the International Monetary Fund between 1975 and 2022. The final conclusion is simple. None of these measures have had the desired effect on the Cameroonian economy. The country is still struggling to recover. The sole purpose of these stabilisation policies is to solve problems such as inflation. The results of our ARDL method show that the economic contraction in Cameroon has increased inflation. The main reason for this is the inadequacy of supply sources in the country. It is therefore recommended that supply sources be strengthened and diversified in order to change Cameroon's debt- and commodity-based economic structure.
