If there exist meaningful link between wages for public sector employees (officers and public workers) and private sector where the former tend to demonstrate lower productivity increase than the latter, the “cost disease” hypothesis brought to literature by Baumol-Bowen (1966) study might be at least partially acceptable for Turkish public sector. The objective of this study is by using econometric techniques to investigate the existence of such links between private and public sector wages using Turkish yearly data for 1963-2006 period. According to the results of statistical methods used in this study, there exist statistically significant effects of private sector wages over public sector wages
