İhracat Odaklı Sürdürülebilir Büyüme Kapsamında Türk Madencilik Sektörünün Veri Odaklı Analizi

Öz

Sürdürülebilir büyüme, çevresel ve sosyal boyutların ekonomik kalkınma ile bütünleştirilmesini gerektiren, dolayısıyla doğal kaynakların etkin ve sorumlu kullanımını zorunlu kılan bütüncül bir yaklaşımdır. Bu bağlamda madencilik sektörü, hammadde arzındaki rolü, sanayi üretimine katkısı ve ihracat potansiyeli nedeniyle sürdürülebilir büyümenin temel bileşenlerinden biri olarak öne çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Türkiye’nin genel ihracat performansı kısaca ortaya konulmuş ve madencilik sektörü; ürün grupları ve başlıca ihracat yapılan ülkeler odağında sürdürülebilir büyüme çerçevesinde kapsamlı bir şekilde analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar, madencilik sektörünün %2,3’lük pay ile Türkiye’nin toplam ihracatına katkı sağlayan üç ana sektörden biri olduğunu göstermiştir. Ürün bazlı analizler, metalik minerallerin toplam madencilik ihracatının %70’inden fazlasını oluşturarak sektöre hâkim olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Ayrıca metalik cevher ihracatının istikrarlı bir artış eğilimi gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Buna karşılık, doğal taş ihracatında bir düşüş gözlenmesine rağmen, bu ürün grubu toplam madencilik ihracatı içerisindeki önemini korumaktadır. Bunun yanı sıra doğal taş ürünleri ihracatında Kuzey Amerika’dan Amerika Birleşik Devletleri; Asya’dan Çin ve Hindistan; Orta Doğu’dan ise Irak ve Suudi Arabistan önde gelen hedef ülkeler olarak belirlenmiştir. Öte yandan, metalik cevher ihracatında özellikle Bulgaristan başta olmak üzere Avrupa ülkelerinin baskın konumda olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak çalışma bulguları, Türkiye madencilik sektörünün ihracat kapasitesinin artırılmasına ve sürdürülebilir büyüme hedefleriyle uyumlu hâle getirilmesine yönelik politika ve stratejilerin geliştirilmesine önemli katkılar sunmaktadır.

A data-driven analysis of the Turkish mining sector within export-oriented sustainable growth

Öz

Sustainable growth is a holistic approach to economic development that necessitates the integration of environmental and social dimensions, thereby requiring the efficient and responsible use of natural resources. In this context, the mining sector stands out as one of the fundamental components of sustainable growth due to its role in raw material supply, its contribution to industrial production, and its export potential. In this study, thus, Türkiye’s overall export performance is briefly outlined, and a comprehensive analysis of the mining sector is conducted within the framework of sustainable growth, focusing on product groups and major export destination countries. The results indicate that the mining sector is one of the three main sectors contributing to Türkiye’s total exports, with a share of 2.3%. Product-based analyses reveal that metallic minerals dominate the sector, accounting for more than 70% of total mining exports. Moreover, exports of metallic ores exhibit a consistent upward trend. In contrast, although a decline is observed in natural stone exports, this product group continues to maintain its significance within total mining exports. Additionally, in the export of natural stone products, the United States from North America; China and India from Asia; and Iraq and Saudi Arabia from the Middle East are identified as the leading destination countries. On the other hand, in metallic ore exports, European countries—particularly Bulgaria—are found to be dominant. In summary, the results of the study provide significant contributions to the development of policies and strategies aimed at enhancing the export capacity of Türkiye’s mining sector and aligning it with sustainable growth objectives.
