GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION IMPORTANCE ON SUSTAINABLE GASTRONOMY TOURISM
Abstract
A major factor contributing to the development of sustainable gastronomy tourism is the products registered geographical indication. Geographical indication of registered gastronomy products are becoming an increasingly important issue in the development of sustainable gastronomy tourism. Considered with geographical indication advantages; it is important to consider this topic in terms of values such as to protect the originality of local gastronomy products, to contribute its promotion and to increase market share. Against this background, the purpose of this study is to examine the geographical indication in sustainable gastronomy tourism. To this end, two separate focus groups had meetings with sector representatives on the subject in Düzce. In assessing the data collected, it was concluded that the effect of the geographical indication may be important in terms of sustainable gastronomy tourism and it is an important aspect that should be revealed in terms of tourism value.
