Öz

The Brunner-Munzel test is a statistical method used to compare means between two independent groups, particularly when normal distribution assumptions are violated or group variances are not homogeneous. Similar to the Mann-Whitney U test, it evaluates differences in medians using ranked data but does not assume equal variances among groups, making it a more flexible option.
In medical research, the Brunner-Munzel test is applied to evaluate the efficacy of new treatments, compare the effects of varying medication dosages, and assess the performance of medical devices. Unlike the Mann-Whitney U test, it is more suitable for scenarios with unequal group variances. Variance difference, which assesses whether group variability is homogeneous or heterogeneous, is typically evaluated using techniques like ANOVA. The Brunner-Munzel test is critical in medical statistics, particularly in cases involving non-homogeneous group variances, making it an invaluable tool in clinical research.

Brunner-Munzel testi, iki bağımsız grup arasındaki ortalamaları karşılaştırmak için kullanılan bir istatistiksel yöntemdir. Normal dağılım varsayımlarının sağlanmadığı veya grup varyanslarının homojen olmadığı durumlarda tercih edilir. Mann-Whitney U testi gibi sıralı verileri değerlendirerek medyan farklılıklarını inceler ancak grup varyanslarının eşit olduğu varsayımını gerektirmez. Bu özelliği, Brunner-Munzel testini daha esnek bir seçenek haline getirir.
Tıbbi araştırmalarda Brunner-Munzel testi, yeni tedavi yöntemlerinin etkinliğini değerlendirmek, farklı ilaç dozlarının etkilerini karşılaştırmak ve medikal cihaz performansını ölçmek gibi çeşitli alanlarda kullanılır. Mann-Whitney U testinden farkı, grup varyanslarının eşit olmadığı durumlarda daha uygun bir yöntem olmasıdır. Varyans farkı, gruplar arasındaki değişkenliğin homojen veya heterojen olup olmadığını belirlemek için değerlendirilir ve analizlerde genellikle ANOVA gibi yöntemler kullanılır.
