Huzurevinde Kalan Yaşlı Bireylerde Yaşam Doyumunun Değerlendirilmesi

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışmada, huzurevinde kalan yaşlı bireylerde yaşam doyumu düzeyinin ve etkileyen sosyodemografik faktörlerin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.
Yöntem: Bu tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel çalışmanın örneklemini, 25 Mart–25 Temmuz 2019 tarihlerinde bir huzurevinde kalan 84 yaşlı birey oluşturmuştur. Veriler, Kişisel Bilgi Formu ve Yaşam Doyumu Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, tanımlayıcı istatistikler ile Bağımsız Gruplarda t Testi ve ANOVA Testi kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan yaşlıların yaş ortalaması 76,90 ± 9,35’dir. Katılımcıların %33,3’ü kimsesi olmadığı için huzurevine gelmiştir ve %73,8’i 1-5 yıldır huzurevinde kalmaktadır. Yaşlıların %65,5’inin huzurevinde katıldığı bir sosyal aktivitesinin olmadığı ve %48,8’inin ziyaretine kimsenin gelmediği belirlenmiştir. Katılımcıların Yaşam Doyumu Ölçeği puan ortalaması 7,44 ± 3,45 olup, %48,8’inde orta düzeyde ve %48,8’inde düşük düzeyde yaşam doyumu olduğu belirlenmiştir. Fiziksel bir engele sahip olan yaşlıların yaşam doyumları olmayanlara göre düşük bulunmuştur (p < 0,05).
Sonuç: Bu çalışma, huzurevinde kalan yaşlıların yaşam doyumlarının düşük olduğunu belirlemiştir. Huzurevinde kalan yaşlıların yaşam doyumlarını artıracak etkinlikler planlanmalı ve yaşadıkları çevre düzenlenmelidir.

Evaluation of Life Satisfaction in Elderly People Living in Nursing Homes

Öz

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the life satisfaction levels of elderly people living in nursing homes and the effects of sociodemographic factors on their life satisfaction levels.
Methods: The sample of this descriptive and cross-sectional study consisted of 84 elderly individuals living in a nursing home between 25 March and 25 July 2019. The data were collected using the Personal Information Form and the Life Satisfaction Scale. Descriptive statistics, Independent Groups t Test and ANOVA Test were used to analyze the data.
Results: The mean age of the elderly who participated in the study was 76.90±9.35 years. Of the participants, 33.3% came to the nursing home because they did not have anyone and 73.8% had been staying in the nursing home for 1-5 years. Of elderly people, 65.5% did not have a social activity in the nursing home and 48.8% had no visitors. The mean Life Satisfaction Scale score of the participants was 7.44 ± 3.45. Of participants, 48.8% had a moderate level of life satisfaction and 48.8% had a low level of life satisfaction. The life satisfaction of the elderly with a physical disability was lower than those without a physical disability (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: This study determined that the life satisfaction of the elderly living in nursing homes was low. Activities that will increase the life satisfaction of the elderly living in nursing homes should be planned and the environment they live in should be arranged.
