The Impact of Blockchain Technology on International Supply Chain Management

Öz

This study examines the impact of blockchain technology on international supply chain management, evaluating its primary contributions as well as the challenges it faces. Blockchain offers transformative potential in areas such as transparency, traceability, data security, and cost efficiency within supply chain processes. Its decentralized structure enables immutable recordkeeping of transactions, which helps reduce fraud and enhance consumer trust. Through smart contracts, operations can be automated, resulting in both time savings and operational efficiency. However, the widespread adoption of blockchain is constrained by several challenges, including high initial implementation costs, lack of global standards, and regulatory uncertainties. The study further suggests that integrating blockchain with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) may provide more sustainable and reliable solutions for supply chain management. In conclusion, the role of blockchain in supply chain systems is expected to grow significantly, highlighting the need for further academic research in this area.

Öz

Bu çalışma, blockchain teknolojisinin uluslararası tedarik zinciri yönetimine olan etkilerini incelemekte ve bu alanda sunduğu temel katkılar ile karşılaşılan zorlukları değerlendirmektedir. Blockchain teknolojisi; şeffaflık, izlenebilirlik, veri güvenliği ve maliyet tasarrufu gibi alanlarda tedarik zinciri süreçlerini dönüştürme potansiyeline sahiptir. Merkeziyetsiz yapısı sayesinde işlemlerin değiştirilemez biçimde kayıt altına alınması, sahtekârlığın azaltılmasına ve tüketici güveninin artırılmasına katkı sağlamaktadır. Akıllı sözleşmeler yoluyla işlemlerin otomatikleştirilmesi, hem zaman tasarrufu hem de operasyonel verimlilik sunmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, blockchain teknolojisinin geniş çapta benimsenmesi çeşitli zorluklarla sınırlanmaktadır. Yüksek başlangıç maliyetleri, standart eksiklikleri ve yasal-düzenleyici belirsizlikler, teknolojinin uygulama alanlarını daraltmaktadır. Çalışma, ayrıca blockchain’in yapay zekâ (AI) ve nesnelerin interneti (IoT) gibi yeni nesil teknolojilerle entegrasyonunun, tedarik zinciri yönetiminde daha sürdürülebilir ve güvenilir çözümler sunabileceğini öne sürmektedir. Sonuç olarak, blockchain’in tedarik zinciri yönetimindeki rolünün giderek artacağı ve bu alanda daha fazla akademik çalışmaya ihtiyaç duyulduğu vurgulanmaktadır.
