Yıl 2025, Cilt: 9 Sayı: 2, 241 - 259, 01.01.2026

Öz

The primary objective of this study is to examine the effects of Social Media Addiction and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) on Life Satisfaction among university students. The sample for the research consists of a total of 378 participants reached through Convenience Sampling. The Social Media Addiction Scale, FOMO Scale, and Life Satisfaction Scale were used as data collection tools. The data obtained were analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to test the research hypotheses. According to the analysis results, the level of Social Media Addiction significantly affects the level of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO). It was found that the level of social media addiction is directly proportional and related to the level of FOMO. Furthermore, it was determined that the level of Social Media Addiction also has a significant effect on an individual's Life Satisfaction. However, it was found that the level of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) does not have a direct significant effect on Life Satisfaction. This study contributes to the literature by examining the effect of both social media addiction and FOMO on life satisfaction in the same model.
