The staircase, which is used in every moment of daily life and is a very functional structure, is a tool that allows people to go up or down. With this feature, the staircase, which has gained a mystical-mythological concept in universal human thought, has been used as a tool in the expression of spiritual transformations such as ascending to the sky, reaching the divine, awareness or self-discovery in mythical narratives and sacred texts. In this study, in addition to the listed features, the mystical and symbolic perception that the staircase has acquired in the collective memory, as it is the entrance and exit space of a house, is discussed. In the article, in which the document analysis method was used on folkloric products that reflect folk thought and are established with symbolic expression forms, folk creations in which the staircase stands out as a mystical and symbolic space were examined comparatively; the figure in question was classified according to its functional areas. In this context, in Turkish folklore, the staircase has appeared as a structure that provides a transition to mystical realms on the basis of being an intermediate space between inside and outside, and a place where extraordinary beings hold a place. In the same context, the staircase is a place of punishment in folk narratives and beliefs. In the study, it was revealed that this figure, which was determined to be a symbol of the worldly life between birth-death, also symbolizes love, marriage and sexuality as a result of psychoanalytic analyzes. Thus, the boundaries of the image areas created by the staircase as a space in Turkish folk thought were drawn; its reflections in folkloric products were determined.
