Çevrimiçi Öğrenme Ortamlarında Uzaktan Eğitim Öğrencilerinin Topluluk Hissine Etki Eden Faktörlerin İncelenmesi

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı, çevrimiçi öğrenme ortamlarında öğrencilerin topluluk hissine etki eden faktörleri belirlemektir. Çevrimiçi öğrenme ortamlarında bireylerin topluluk hissine etki eden faktörlerin belirlenmesi bu ortamların paydaşları açısından önem taşımaktadır. Çalışmanın katılımcılarını, bir Uzaktan Eğitim Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi’ndeki (UZEM) 5 farklı bölümden 15 önlisans öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Araştırma verileri, nitel veri toplama araçlarından yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme ile elde edilmiştir. Katılımcılarla yapılan görüşmeler sonucunda elde edilen veriler, bir bilgisayar programıyla içerik analiziyle incelenmiştir. Verilerin analizi sonunda ilgili alanyazın göz önünde bulundurularak çevrimiçi öğrenme ortamlarında öğrencilerin topluluk hissine etki eden yedi tema belirlenmiştir. Bu temalar (1) öğretim elemanı, (2) öğrenci özellikleri, (3) öğretim tasarımı, (4) öğretim yöntemi, (5) etkileşim, (6) işbirliği ve (7) oryantasyon şeklindedir. Bu bağlamda çevrimiçi ortamlar düzenlenirken öğretim elemanlarının süreçle ilgili bilgilendirilmesine, etkileşimin gerekleştiği arayüzlerin tasarlanmasına, sistemle ilgili oryantasyonların yapılmasına ve uygun yöntem ve stratejilerin belirlenmesine dikkat edilmesi önerilmiştir.

Investigation of Factors Affecting the Sense of Community of Distance Education Learners in Online Learning Environments

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that influence the sense of community of learners in online learning environments. Participants of the study consisted of 15 students from 5 different departments in Distance Learning Application and Research Center (UZEM). The study was conducted through semi-structured interviews with qualitative data collection tools. The data obtained through interviews with participants were analyzed by content analysis with a computer program. After the analysis of the data, seven themes that influence the sense of community of learners in online learning environments were defined. These themes are (1) instructor, (2) learners characteristics, (3) instructional design, (4) teaching method, (5) interaction, (6) collaboration and (7) orientation. While organizing online learning environments, it is emphasized that instructors should be informed about the process, interaction interfaces should be designed, system orientations should be made, and appropriate methods and strategies should be determined.
