In the study, the perceptions and thoughts of Syrians residing in Kayseri about their homeland perception and before and after the war were discussed. In the study, the phenomenological method, one of the qualitative research techniques, was adopted. In the study, interviews were conducted with 23 people between the ages of 14-52. A semi-structured interview form was preferred during the meetings. In addition to the interviews held between 2017-2019, temporary education center, home visits, and observations were made in places where Syrians are concentrated. As a result, it is seen that some male asylum seekers need new living space, and with the effect of this need, the homeland is envisioned not as a place of belonging but as a structure that is lived in and whose nature is variable. Almost all of the interviewees, they declare that they want to become citizens of the Republic of Turkey. Regarding the pre-war situation, it was determined that they were subjected to the oppressive and sometimes oppressive attitudes of the state, they could not live their religious lives comfortably, they could not reveal their thoughts, and they were always living with the fear of being followed by Syrian intelligence. Regarding the war, the regime deals with issues such as the pressures against the Sunni people, the effects of the external powers, the flaws in respect of religious values and servitude to God, and the material ambitions of some individuals and explain the reason for the war to begin. In addition, the interviewer, Syrians in Turkey as they see three classes which are good and bad people, moderate people who are neither good nor bad. Syrians think that women have more rights about the structure of Turkish society and that Turks are free. However, they state that the social life is more durable in Syria, life flows more slowly, and the cost of living is lower than in Turkey. Besides, the interviewees state that they have established positive relations with the Turks and the people of Kayseri in general. All of the interviewees stated that they are thankful for the opportunities provided by the Turkish government to refugees.
