It is known that timber structures have an important place in traditional architecture in Turkey. Particularly the majority of the housings constructed during the Ottoman period are timber framed structures. During this period, use of timber structures become important because of earthquake experiences. Traditional timber framed structures are known to be sufficiently resilient against earthquakes. However, these structures were also damaged during earthquakes. Those that are damaged during an earthquake are usually deficient and faulty buildings. In this context, traditional timber framed structure rules are included in the nine earthquake regulations published in Turkey, while new rules are brought in many earthquake regulations in order to prevent damages. The purpose of this study is to determine earthquake damages in traditional framed structures and the relationship between measures taken against such damages and earthquake regulations. Furthermore, it is aimed to form a different memory regarding traditional timber framed structures. In the study, a research method consisting of three stages is used.
