SCHOOL BASED TRAINING PROGRAMS for PREVENTING INJURIES: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of
school-based education programs to prevent injuries and to determine the
effects of students on security measures, self-protection skills, behaviors and
knowledge. In this systematic review; “The researchers conducted between
2000-2019, which can be accessed from 5 databases such as Pubmed, Wiley
Interscience, Sciencedirect, Cochrane Library and EBSCOhost, were examined.
“School-based injury prevention programs", “Preventing injuries in
children and adolescents”, “Unintentional injuries in children and adolescents”
and “School injuries” were used in the study in Turkish and English. Of the
studies included in the systematic review, 5 were randomized controlled
experimental designs and 2 were semi-experimental research designs. Training
programs, peer teaching, multiple training sessions, various approaches (eg,
providing safety equipment, sending letters to parents about safety, assigning
homework on safety to students, and adding safety issues to the curriculum).
According to the results of the research, although school based education
programs were conducted in different cultures and education systems, it was
found to be effective in preventing injuries. The areas where the studies are
effective are traffic, sports, fire and pedestrian safety. Although the studies
reviewed in this systematic review guide us to prevent injuries, higher quality
studies are needed to evaluate the impact of school-based injury prevention
programs on injury cases.

Öz



Çalışma öğrencilerde yaralanmaları önlemeye yönelik okul
temelli eğitim programlarının etkililiğini değerlendirmek ve öğrencilerin
güvenlik önlemi almaları, kendini koruma becerileri, davranışları ve bilgileri
üzerindeki etkilerini belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sistematik
derlemede; “Pubmed, Wiley Interscience, Sciencedirect, Cochrane Library ve
EBSCOhost olmak üzeri 5 veri tabanından ulaşılabilen, 2000-2019 yılları
arasında yapılan araştırmalar incelenmiştir. Çalışmada Türkçe ve İngilizce
olarak “Okul temelli yaralanma önleme programları" "Çocuk ve
adolesanlarda yaralanmaları önleme", "Çocuk ve adolesanlarda istemsiz
yaralanmalar", "Okul yaralanmaları" anahtar kelimeleri
kullanılmıştır. Bu bağlamda; araştırmaya dahil edilme kriterlerine uyan 7
çalışma sistematik derleme kapsamında değerlendirilmiştir. Sistematik derlemeye
dahil edilen araştırmaların 5’i randomize kontrollü deneysel, 2’si yarı
deneysel araştırma tasarımına sahiptir. Eğitim programları, akran öğretimi,
birden fazla eğitim oturumları, çeşitli yaklaşımlar (örneğin, güvenlik
ekipmanlarının sağlanması, ailelere güvenlik ile ilgili mektup gönderilmesi,
öğrencilere güvenlik konulu ev ödevi verilmesi ve ders müfredatına güvenlik
konularının eklenmesi) yer almıştır. Elde edilen araştırma sonuçlarına göre
okul temelli uygulanan eğitim programlarının farklı kültürlerde ve eğitim
sistemlerinde yapılmış olmasına rağmen yaralanmaları önlemede etkili olduğu
saptanmıştır. Çalışmaların etkili olduğu alanlar trafik, spor, yangın ve yaya
güvenliğidir. Bu sistematik derlemede incelenen çalışmalar yaralanmaları
önlemede bize rehber olsa da okul temelli yaralanma önleme programlarının
yaralanma olayları üzerindeki etkisini değerlendirmek için daha yüksek kaliteli
çalışmalara ihtiyaç vardır.
