ADÖLESANLARIN YEME BAĞIMLILIKLARI, VÜCUT KÜTLE İNDEKSLERİ VE İÇECEK TERCİHLERİNİN BELİRLENMESİ

Öz
Ergenlik dönemi gelişimin pik yaptığı, fiziksel ve psikolojik birçok değişikliğin aynı anda yaşandığı bir dönemdir. Bu dönem yeme bozukluğu açısından hassastır ve bu grupta yeme bağımlılığının belirlenmesi önemlidir. Bu çalışmada adolesanlarda yeme bağımlılığı, beden kütle indeksi ve içecek tercihleri arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışmaya, iki farklı lisede eğitim gören (devlet lisesi: 100, özel lise: 100) toplam 200 birey katılmıştır. Verilerin toplanmasında araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanmış, Duygusal İştah Anketi, Yale Yeme Bağımlılığı Ölçeği ve içecek tüketim tercihlerini içeren anket formu kullanılmıştır. Katılımcıların ortalama yaşları 16.02±1.10 yıl, beden kütle indeksleri 60.72±10.68 kg/m2 olarak belirlenmiştir. Özel lisede okuyan katılımcıların beden kütle indeksleri diğer katılımcıların beden kütle indekslerinden istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde yüksektir (p<0.01). Devlet lisesinde okuyan katılımcıların olumsuz duygularla tetiklenen iştahları diğerlerinden istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde yüksektir (p<0.01). Olumlu duygularla tetiklenen iştah puanlarında herhangi bir anlamlı farklılık görülmemiştir (p>0.05). Katılımcılar yeme bağımlılık durumlarına göre incelendiğindeyse, beden kütle indeksi, olumsuz ve olumlu duygusal iştah açısından gruplar arasında anlamlı bir farklılık saptanmamıştır (p>0.05). Yeme bağımlılığı olan katılımcıların bitki çayı, filtre kahve, çözünebilir kahve, maden suyu ve meyveli kefir tüketimi yeme bağımlılığı olmayan katılımcılara göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde yüksektir (p<0.05). Adolesanlarda sağlıklı beslenme alışkanlıkları yaygınlaştırılmalı, ergenlerin ruhsal durumlarının farkında olarak yeterli ve dengeli beslenmeleri desteklenmelidir.

Adolescence is a period when development peaks and many physical and psychological changes occur simultaneously. This period is sensitive in terms of eating disorders and it is important to determine food addiction in this group. This study aimed to determine the relationship between food addiction, Body Mass Index and beverage preferences among adolescents. Two hundred individuals studying in two different high schools (public high school: 100, and private high school: 100) participated in the study. A questionnaire form created by researchers was used and it included the Emotional Appetite Questionnaire, Yale Food Addiction Scale, and beverage consumption preferences. The participants’ mean ages and body mass indexes were determined as 16.02±1.10 years and 60.72±10.68 kg/m2, respectively. The participants' body mass index who were studying in private high school were statistically significantly higher than the others (p<0.01). The participants' appetites triggered by negative emotions who studying in a public high school were statistically significantly higher than the others (p<0.01). No difference was observed in the appetite scores triggered by positive emotions (p>0.05). No difference was found between the groups in terms of body mass index, negative eating appetite and positive eating appetite according to their food addiction status (p>0.05). The participants who had food addiction’ consumption’ of herbal tea, filter coffee, instant coffee, mineral water and fruity kefir was statistically significantly higher than others (p<0.05). Healthy eating habits should be promoted among adolescents, and adolescents should be supported to have adequate and balanced nutrition by being aware of their mental state.
