Leptospirosis Cases Among Domesticated Animals Between in 1963-1974 in Turkey

Öz

This study was carrieJ uut in the years of 1963- 1974,. with th~
obje'ct of deteri.11iniııg of Leptospirosis which induce hematuria,
abortus, jaundice and death in the domesticated animals in Turkey.
5586 blood sera taken from 3877 cattle, 1431 sheeps, 114 goats,
107 dogs, 3 bats and 54 human from different parts of Turkey exaınined
by Micro- Agglutination tesL .
12 standart sero- type of Leptospira antigens hav been us.ed in
serological tests and 1114 of these sera foÜnd positive for Leptospirosis.
Consequenly it has been understood that the provinces of
Erzurum, Kars, Kastamonu, Samsun, Sakarya, Diyarbakır and İzmir
are infectious areas.
Serological test have bee ıı carried out in the provinces of Ankara,
Edirne, Adana, Çankırı·,.. Bursa and the following 13 .pathogenic
strains of Leptospira have been isolated from the domesticated
animals: 1963 (Ankara) HASANOGLAN, 1964 (Ediri1e) MALKOÇ.
1965 (Ankara) BAGLUM, 1970 (Adana) ÇAYLI, 1972 (Çankı'rı) KUR~
ŞUNLU, 1972 (Ankara) KÖPR0BAŞI, 1972 (Ankara) AHMETADİL
from local species cattle, 1967 (Bursa) KARACABEY.- HARA, 1969
(Ankara) from Montafon cow PAZAR .from Mohair goat, 1970 (Çankın)
KALFAT from hair goat, 1969 (Ankara) İMR.4HOR from Mantafon
cows, 1971 (Ankara) DUTÖZÜ, 1969 (Adana) HAVRANiYE
from sheep.
İdentifications from subcultures reveiled that the strains belong
to Leptospira Grippotyphosa Sero- Group.
In the view of this information, a map vvas drawn to show
where Leptospirosis determined serologically and . the strains isolated.
Autor has been studying to produce a vaccine with a native
strains of kurşunlu againsts Leptospira Grippotyphosa.
