HOW CAN UNIVERSITY-INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP BE DEVELOPED IN TOURISM?

In this study, a literature review was conducted to respond to the question of “How to develop university-industry partnership in the field of tourism?” The researches published in the tourism literature between 1993 and 2015 that have been evaluated under the scope of university-industry partnership were investigated based on the years and the journals published in, research methods used, university and country involved and subjects covered. The existing literature suggests that studies on university-industry partnership in tourism are hardly found in Turkey and were held at western countries with limited aspects. It has been determined that researches conducted in universityindustry partnership in the 90's have been carried out conceptually and the related publications based on field studies have been increased after the year 2000. The findings reveal that there is an increase in the number of studies carried out after the year 2007. While the need for university-industry partnership has come into question in the 1990s, research has focused on the relevant field and applications after 2007. Another noteworthy development over the years is that the studies have been prepared after 2002 with particular qualitative methods. In these studies, no single solution is proposed for the success of partnership between the university and the sector. It is necessary to carry out field researches on this subject and to develop suggestions and strategies for university-sector partnership success in Turkey
