Yeni Medya ve Kullanıcı Türevli İçerik: Dokuz8haber Sitesi Örneğinde Yurttaş Gazeteciliği Üzerine Etnografik Bir İnceleme

Öz

Bu makalede Türkiye’de son yıllarda sayıları giderek artan kullanıcı türevli haber içeriklerini barındıran dijital platformlar bir örnek olay analizi çerçevesinde incelenmektedir. Yeni medya ortamının sunduğu olanakları değerlendiren yurttaş gazetecilerin bir araya gelmesiyle oluşan Dokuz8haber isimli bir dijital ajans ağının kuruluş ve organizasyon yapısının ele alındığı bu çalışmada, ağa katılanların motivasyonları, gazetecilik ve yurttaş gazeteciliğe yaklaşımları anket, katılımcı gözlem ve görüşme teknikleriyle elde edilen veriler çerçevesinde tartışılmaktadır. Çalışmada Türkiye’de özellikle son beş yıldır daha görünür bir şekilde faaliyette olan yurttaş gazeteciliği için yeni medyanın kullanılması, takip edilmesi ve yapılan haber üretiminin bir parçası haline getirilmesinin görece kolay olduğu gözlemlenmektedir. Ancak, eyleyenler düzeyinde henüz yurttaş gazeteciliğinin içerik üretimi açısından nasıl bir yol ve yöntem izlenmesi konusunda bir uzlaşmaya varılmamış olması söz konusudur. Örnek olay analizinde görüldüğü üzere haber yapmak, video veya fotoğraf çekmek bir aktif yurttaşlık edimi ve sorumluluğu olarak görülürken, kurumsallaşmış medya organları ile yurttaş gazeteciliğinin birbiriyle olan ilişkisi varsayılanın aksine birbirini dışlamamaktadır. Bu konuda yapılmış ilk etnografik çalışmalardan biri olan bu araştırmanın sınırlılıklarından dolayı yurttaş gazeteciliği konusundaki çalışmalar yeni niteliksel ve niceliksel araştırmalarla desteklenmelidir.

New Media and User Generated Content: An enthnographic analysis of citizen journalism taking Dokuz8haber news site as an example

Öz

This paper offers an analysis of a case study of digital platforms which involve user generated content in Turkey. A digital news agency, Dokuz8haber, which was formed by coming together of various citizen journalism initiatives via the use of new media. This study focuses on the organisational structure of the new agency, and the motivations of those who join the initiative though data collected through a questionnaire, participant observation and interviews. One of the main findings of the study is that citizen journalism platforms find it easier to appropriate new technologies as part of their news production process, however, there is no agreement in terms of the methods that needs to be employed for content creation and production in citizen journalism. The case study also reveals that news gathering, video and photography production is considered to be an active act of citizenship and the relationship between mainstream media and citizen journalism does not necessarly exclude each other’s practices.
