MEDIATION EFFECT OF TRUST AND COMMITMENT ON THE EFFECT OF EXCHANGE CLIMATE ATTRIBUTES ON KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER

Today, when knowledge is strategically accepted as the dominant production factor, knowledge transfer is considered as a vital issue for firms. The transfer of knowledge, which is an indispensable strategic asset and most important resource for organizations, both within and between organizations is essential for the expansion and enrichment of existing knowledge as well as its use. Knowledge transfer is seen as the most important source of competitive advantage for firms. Obtaining the transferred knowledge from a foreign source is not only significant to the firms but also to the national economy because the potential of the transferred knowledge to provide an added value to the country's economy is seen to be quite high. Due to its importance, in this study, the issue of knowledge transfer from the foreign partner to the business is discussed. In addition, the effective knowledge transfer in organizations depends on various factors. The exchange climate, attributes which have been discussed many times in the literature in terms of their positive effects on knowledge transfer, have been determined as the independent variables of the research. In order to reveal this relationship in a more clear and purified way, the main problem of the study was determined whether the factors of trust and commitment, which are assumed to form the basis for the realization of knowledge transfer, have an effect on this relationship. In this context, the main research subject of the study is to investigate the mediation effect of trust and commitment in the effect of exchange climate attributes on knowledge transfer. The data of the research were obtained from 407 firms established between 2011-2021 in Turkey and with at least one Turkish and at least one foreign partner. In the study, mediation analysis was used to determine the mediation effects. As a result of the analyzes, it has been determined that there are mediating effects of trust and commitment in the effects of exchange climate attributes on knowledge transfer.
