A Multidimensional Metaphorical Perspective for 21st Century School Leadership: The Rubik's Cube Model

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 9 Sayı: 2, 198 - 221, 24.12.2025

Öz

The present study proposes a conceptual framework to elucidate the multidimensional, dynamic and complex nature of 21st-century school leadership, employing the Rubik's Cube Model as a conceptualizing device. The model systematically and metaphorically integrates six fundamental dimensions of leadership: pedagogical, ethical, digital, crisis management, cultural sensitivity, and strategic planning. The rapidly changing conditions of educational leadership necessitate that leaders operate flexibly and interactively across multiple roles. The Rubik's Cube Model provides a novel perspective on the understanding and application of the holistic nature of leadership processes, serving as a guiding tool for leadership education, policymaking, and practice. The study recommends empirical testing of the model in a variety of educational contexts and its integration into educational leadership practice.
