The Effect of Social Media Use on the Relationship between Factors Affecting Employee Performance and Job Happiness: TR72 Region Textile Sector Case

Yıl 2026, Cilt: 17 Sayı: 1, 195 - 212, 30.01.2026

Öz

This study aimed to investigate the impact of social media usage on the relationship between the factors influencing the performance of employees in the textile sector in the TR72 Region (comprising Kayseri, Sivas, and Yozgat) and their job satisfaction. In this study, a quantitative research method was employed, and the scale questions, for which validity and reliability studies had previously been conducted, were administered to employees working in textile companies in the TR72 Region using the convenience sampling model. The resulting data were analyzed using the SPSS 25, AMOS 20, and PROCESS Macro programs. The findings indicate that social media use has a detrimental impact on the relationship between the factors influencing employee performance and job satisfaction. The factors determining employee performance had a positive effect on job happiness, whereas social media had a negative effect. Furthermore, the analysis of differences revealed significant discrepancies according to age (generations). While social media use is higher among Generation Z employees, job happiness is found to be higher among Generation X employees. As the level of education increases, social media use also increases, and it can be concluded that married employees have higher job happiness.
