This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between picky eating behavior and other eating behaviors, such as uncontrolled eating, cognitive restriction, and emotional eating, as well as adherence to the Mediterranean diet in adults. A total of 827 individuals, 224 males and 603 females between the ages of 18-65, participated in the study using the online convenience sampling method. Participants' picky eating behaviors were assessed with the Adult Picky Eating Questionnaire (APEQ), other eating behaviors with the Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ-Tr21), and adherence with the Mediterranean diet with the 14-item Mediterranean Diet Adherence Scale (MEDAS). Data were evaluated using descriptive statistics, intergroup comparisons, correlation tests, and multiple linear regression analysis. It was determined that the TFEQ-Tr21 cognitive restriction subscale score was positively correlated with the MEDAS score (r = 0.234; p < 0.001) and effective on adherence with the Mediterranean diet (β = 0.226; p < 0.001). The TFEQ-Tr21 uncontrolled eating subscale score was negatively correlated with the MEDAS score (r = -0.147; p <0.001) and had a negative effect on the Mediterranean diet (β = -0.145; p = 0.001). Among the APEQ subscales, only meal presentation was found to be correlated with MEDAS (r = 0.085; p = 0.014) (β = 0.134; p = 0.001). The findings indicate that various eating behaviors may influence adherence to the Mediterranean diet and diet quality, suggesting that individuals play a significant role in their compliance with healthy eating patterns.
