Coronavirüs pandemisi ve obsesif kompulsif bozukluk: Bir olgu sunumu

Öz

Coronavirüs salgını çeşitli fiziksel problemlere yol açmanın yanı sıra gerek hastalığın bulaşması yoluyla gerek pandemi sürecinde yapılan duyurular, alınması beklenen önlemler ile akıl ve ruh sağlığı üzerinde de olumsuz etkiler oluşturmaktadır. Süreç içinde ruhsal hastalık tanısı olan kişilerin semptomları yoğunlaşabilirken ilk kez bu dönemde tanı alan kişiler de bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, yakınmaları ilk kez pandemi döneminde başlayan ve tanı alan bir obsesif kompulsif bozukluk olgusu sunulmuştur. Hastanın öncesinde herhangi bir yakınması yok iken pandemi döneminde işlevselliğini anlamlı derecede etkileyecek boyutta obsesyon ve kompulsiyonları başlamıştır. Fakat hasta belirtilerini pandemi döneminde alınması gereken önlemler, uygulanması gereken davranışlar olarak değerlendirmiştir, çevresindekileri benzer davranışları sergileme konusunda zorlamıştır. Yakınları tarafından muayeneye getirilen hastanın ayaktan takip ve tedaviye yanıt vermemesi üzerine yatırılarak takip edilmesi gerekmiştir. Çalışma ile mortal seyir gösterebilmesi nedeniyle fiziksel etkilerine odaklanılan COVID-19’un, akıl ve ruh sağlığı üzerindeki etkilerinin göz ardı edilmemesi gerektiğini vurgulamak amaçlanmıştr. Aynı zamanda kişilerin pandemi dönemi önlemlerini ruh sağlıklarını koruyarak sürdürülebilmeleri konusunda ruh sağlığı alanında çalışanların destekleyici tutumlarının faydalı olabileceği belirtilmek istenmiştir.

Coronavirus pandemic and obsessive compulsive disorder: A case report

Öz

In addition to causing various physical problems, the coronavirus pandemic also has negative effects on mental health, both through the transmission of the disease and the announcements made during the pandemic, the precaution expected to be taken. While the symptoms of people with a diagnosis of mental illness may intensify during the process, there are also people who are diagnosed for the first time during this period. In this study, a case of obsessive compulsive disorder whose complaints started and diagnosed during the pandemic period is presented. While the patient did not have any complaints before, the obsessions and compulsions that would significantly affect the functionality started during the pandemic period. However, the patient evaluated the symptoms as the precautions to be taken during the pandemic period, the behaviors that should be implemented, and forced the people around them to exhibit similar behaviors. The patient, who was brought to the examination by his relatives, had to be followed up by inpatient because he did not respond to outpatient follow-up and treatment. It is aimed to emphasize that the effects of COVID-19 on mental health should not be ignored, which focuses on its physical effects due to its mortal course. At the same time, it was wanted to state that the supportive attitudes of mental health professionals can be beneficial for people to be able to continue the pandemic period precaution by protecting their mental health.
