Serahsi who is a faqih originally from Central Asia is among the most important jurists of Hanefi school. He made important contributions to Hanefi school both methodologically and doctrinally. In this article, Hanefis’ look to Quran as a source of reference and Serahsi’s approach to issues of worship in mother language are examined. Serahsi, especially in the issue of worship in mother language, on the one side defended and established the opinion of Ebu Hanife. But on the other side, he limited the application ground of this opinion by bringing restrictive conditions. In this way, he provided parallels between the approach of Hanefis and approaches of other schools in practice. This also shows not just Serahsi’s scientific ability but his fatva policy which took social and cultural conditions into consideration.
