Inside Mathematical Pedagogies: Exploring Personal Practical Theories

Öz

This study examines the Personal Practical Theories (PPTs) of preservice elementary school teachers in mathematics education and explores their sources, categorizing them into four main themes: teacher identity, instructional practices, assessment strategies, and learning environment. Analysis reveals that the most influential sources shaping PPTs are the preservice teachers' own experiences as students, highlighting the significant impact of past educational encounters on their personal theories. Additionally, theoretical courses at the faculty and insights gained from former teachers play crucial roles in shaping these theories. Understanding these influences can inform the development of tailored teacher training programs, better preparing preservice teachers for effective classroom instruction.

Bireysel Teoriler Bağlamında Matematiksel Pedagojilerin İncelenmesi

Öz

Bu çalışma, sınıf öğretmeni adaylarının matematik eğitimine ilişkin bireysel teorilerini incelemekte ve bu teorilerin kaynaklarını dört ana tema altında sınıflandırmaktadır. Bunlar; öğretmen kimliği, öğretim uygulamaları, ölçme-değerlendirme stratejileri ve öğrenme ortamıdır. Araştırmanın bulguları, öğretmen adaylarının bireysel teorilerini şekillendiren en güçlü kaynağın kendi öğrencilik deneyimleri olduğunu göstermekte ve geçmişteki eğitimsel yaşantıların bireysel teorileri üzerindeki belirleyici etkisini ortaya koymaktadır. Ayrıca, fakültede alınan kuramsal derslerin ve önceki öğretmenlerden edinilen deneyimlerin de bireysel teorilerin oluşumunda önemli bir rol oynadığı görülmektedir. Bu etkilerin anlaşılması, öğretmen eğitimi uygulamalarına rehberlik edebilir ve ihtiyaçlara uygun öğretmen eğitimi programlarının geliştirilmesine katkı sunabilir.
