Hepatitis B-C and HIV Seropositivity and Risk Factors in Prisoners

Aim: It was aimed to investigate the frequency of hepatitis B-C and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and the affecting factors from the file records of the prisoners admitted to the family medicine unit of Kayseri Closed Penitentiary Institution between March-April 2021. Method: The analysis results of the prisoners who were admitted to Kayseri Closed Prison from various places in March-April 2021 were scanned retrospectively and the rates of hepatitis B-C and HIV infection were calculated, and their socio-demographic characteristics and significance levels were calculated. A total of 112 prisoners were included in the study. Chi-square test, and descriptive statistics were calculated using SPSS-21 (IBM SPSS Corp; Armonk, NY, USA). Necessary permissions were obtained from Kayseri Provincial Health Directorate. Ethical approval was obtained from Sivas Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine, Non-Interventional Clinical Research Ethics Committee with the decision number 2021-05/03 and date 26.05.2021. Results: A total of 112 prisoners were included in the study. All the prisoners are male. The mean age of the prisoners is 32.28 ±10.668. Anti HCV and Anti HIV values of all prisoners were found to be negative. The mean AntiHBS value of the prisoners was 267.8±386.754. AntiHBS values of 68 prisoners were found to be positive. HbsAg value was found positive in 2 prisoners (1.8%). It was found that there was a significant effect in the Chi-square test performed to determine the effect of age on AntiHBS values (X2: 15.557 p:0.0001). Conclusion: It is important to conduct screenings for infectious diseases in prisons, to administer vaccines to people who have not been diagnosed with the disease, to treat people with the disease and provide training to prevent transmission to other people.

Mahkumlarda Hepatit B-C ve HIV Seropozitifliği ve Risk Faktörleri

Öz

Amaç: Kayseri Kapalı Ceza İnfaz Kurumu aile hekimliği birimine Mart-Nisan 2021 tarihlerinde kabulü yapılan mahkumların dosya kayıtlarından hepatit B-C ve İnsan Bağışıklık Yetmezliği Virüsü (Human Immunodeficiency Virus – HIV) sıklığını ve etkileyen faktörleri araştırmak amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Mart-Nisan 2021 tarihinde çeşitli yerlerden Kayseri Kapalı Cezaevine girişi yapılan mahkumların retrospektif olarak tahlil sonuçları taranarak hepatit B-C ve HIV enfeksiyonu oranları çıkarılarak sosyo-demografik özelliklerle anlamlılık düzeyleri hesaplanmıştır. Toplam 112 mahkum çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. SPSS-21 (IBM SPSS Corp; Armonk, NY, ABD) kullanılarak, ki kare testi, tanımlayıcı istatistikler hesaplanmıştır. Kayseri İl Sağlık Müdürlüğü’nden gerekli izinler alınmıştır. Sivas Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Girişimsel Olmayan Klinik Araştırmalar Etik Kurulundan 2021-05/03 karar no ve 26.05.2021 tarih ile etik izin alınmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışmaya toplam 112 mahkum dahil edilmiştir. Mahkumların hepsi erkektir. Mahkumların yaş ortalamaları 32,28±10,668 yıldır. Bütün mahkumların Anti HCV, Anti HIV değerleri negatif bulunmuştur. Mahkumların Anti HBS değer ortalamaları 267,8±386,754’tür. 68 mahkumun Anti HBS değeri pozitif bulunmuştur. 2 mahkumun HbsAg değeri pozitif bulunmuştur (%1,8). Yaşın Anti HBS değerlerine etkisini belirlemek için yapılan Kikare testinde anlamlı bir etkisinin olduğu bulunmuştur (X2:15,557 p:0,0001). Sonuç: Cezaevlerinde bulaşıcı hastalıklara karşı taramaların yapılması ve hastalık tespit edilmeyen kişilere aşıların uygulanması, hastalık tespit edilen kişilerin tedavilerinin yapılması ve başka kişilere bulaştırmaması için eğitimlerin verilmesi önemlidir.
