A RESEARCH ON DETERMINING ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY PERCEPTION OF DOMESTIC VISITORS

Öz

The uncontrolled and continuous use of natural resources as a result of raised industrialization, urbanization and rapid population growth in recent years,  has caused environmental degradation. The natural, artificial and cultural attractiveness of destinations has an impact on the tourism demand for the destination. Environmental sustainability has become prominent due to increased environmental awareness, augmented demand for higher quality tourism services by tourists and challenging competition between destinations. Within the context of environmental sustainability, the priority is to ensure the sustainability of the environment and natural resources. In this study, it is aimed to determine environmental sustainability perception of domestic visitors. In accordance with this purpose the data were gathered from 203 domestic tourists visiting Fethiye. The results indicated that level of  environmental sustainability perception of domestic visitors were high. In addition, it was also examined whether environmental sustainability perceptions of domestic visitors differ according to some demographics.

YERLİ ZİYARETÇİLERİN ÇEVRESEL SÜRDÜRÜLEBİLİRLİK ALGISININ BELİRLENMESİNE YÖNELİK BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Öz

Son yıllarda artan sanayileşme, kentleşme ve hızlı nüfus artışı sonucunda doğal kaynakların kontrolsüz ve sürekli kullanımı çevresel bozulmaya neden olmuştur. Destinasyonların sahip oldukları doğal, yapay ve kültürel çekicilikleri, destinasyona yönelik turizm talebi üzerinde etkilidir. Çevre bilincinin artması, turistlerin daha kaliteli turizm hizmet talebinde olması ve destinasyonlar arasındaki rekabetin artması sonucunda, çevresel sürdürülebilirlik güncel bir konu haline gelmiştir. Çevresel sürdürülebilirlik kapsamında, çevrenin ve doğal kaynakların sürdürülebilirliğinin sağlanmasının ön plana alınması söz konusu olmaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında, destinasyonu ziyaret eden yerli turistlerin çevresel sürdürülebilirlik algısı belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Fethiye’yi ziyaret eden 203 yerli turistten toplanan veriler üzerinden analizler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, ziyaretçilerin çevresel sürdürülebilirlik algı düzeyinin genel olarak yüksek olduğu ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra bazı demografik özelliklerin çevresel sürdürülebilirlik algısında farklılık yaratıp yaratmadığı da incelenmiştir.
