The Targeted Student Profile within the Scope of the Century of Türkiye Education Model: Views of Teachers and Academics on Cultivating Competent and Virtuous Individuals

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli'nin öngördüğü yetkin ve erdemli insan yetiştirme anlayışı doğrultusunda hedeflenen öğrenci profiline ilişkin öğretmen ve akademisyenlerin görüşlerini ortaya koymak, bu görüşleri farklı boyutlar açısından incelemek ve değerlendirmektir. Bu doğrultuda çalışmada, yetkin ve erdemli olma vasıflarının geliştirilmesi hususunda kimlere hangi görevlerin düştüğü, yetiştirme çabaları değerlendirildiğinde başarılı ya da başarısız olunan hususların neler olduğu, bu vasıfların kazandırılmasında etkili olacağı düşünülen yöntem ve teknikler uzman görüşleri ile incelenmiştir. Araştırma nitel araştırma desenlerinden olgu bilim deseni ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler amaçlı örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen katılımcılar ile yapılan yarı-yapılandırılmış görüşmeler neticesinde toplanmıştır. Görüşmelerden elde edilen veriler içerik analizi tekniğinde çözümlenmiştir. Çalışmada katılımcıların erdemli ve yetkin vasıflarını geniş bir kavramsal çerçeve ile ilişkilendirdiği ancak gelecek nesilleri erdemli ve yetkin vasıfları ile yetiştirme konusunda başarılı olunamadığını düşündüğü belirlenmiştir. Başarısızlığın altında yatan nedenler incelendiğinde ise katılımcıların öncelikle sosyal medyanın etkileri üzerinde durduğu, ekonomik kazanç arzusunun öncelik haline getirilmesi, rol model eksiklerinin bulunması, sorumluluk almalarına izin vermek yerine onlar adına her görevin üstlenilmesi, kuralsız yetiştirme çabasının da nedenler arasında yer aldığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Erdemli ve yetkin insan yetiştirmede en önemli görev ve sorumluluğun anne ve babalara, ikinci olarak öğretmenlere ait olduğunun düşünüldüğü görülmektedir. Ayrıca yetkin ve erdemli insana erişilmesi ile toplumsal kalkınmaya katkı sağlanabileceği, yaşam standartlarının yükselebileceği ve suç oranlarının azalabileceği öngörülmektedir. Bu hedefe ulaşabilmek için ebeveyn eğitimlerinin, erken ve uygulamalı eğitimlere yer verilmesinin ortaya konan önerilerden olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

The purpose of this study is to identify the views of teachers and academics regarding the target student profile outlined in the “Turkey’s Century Education Model,” which aims to cultivate competent and virtuous individuals; and to examine and evaluate these views from various perspectives. Accordingly, the study investigates—through expert opinions—the roles and responsibilities involved in fostering competence and virtue, the areas of success or failure in these developmental efforts, and the methods and techniques considered effective for instilling these qualities.The research was conducted using the phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research designs. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with participants selected through purposive sampling. The data obtained from the interviews were analyzed using content analysis technique. The results of the study show that participants associated virtuous and competent qualities with a broad conceptual framework; however, they believed that there has been a failure in raising future generations with virtuous and competent qualities. When examining the underlying causes of this failure, it was concluded that participants primarily emphasized the effects of social media, prioritization of economic gain, lack of role models, taking on every task on behalf of children instead of allowing them to take responsibility, and efforts to raise children without rules. It is observed that the most important duty and responsibility in raising virtuous and competent individuals is thought to belong to parents first, and teachers second. Additionally, it is anticipated that societal development can be achieved, living standards can be improved, and crime rates can be reduced through the cultivation of competent and virtuous individuals. It was concluded that parent education programs and early, practical training were among the recommendations put forward to achieve this goal.
