Annelerin Erken Postpartum Dönemdeki Konfor Düzeyinin Emzirme Öz-Yeterliliği ve Sadece Anne Sütüyle Beslenmeyle İlişkisi

Öz

Amaç: Araştırmanın amacı, erken postpartum dönemdeki annelerin doğum sonrası konfor seviyeleri ile emzirme öz-yeterlilikleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Kesitsel tasarımdaki araştırmanın evrenini, 2023 yılında Türkiye'nin Ege bölgesinde yer alan bir üniversite hastanesinin kadın doğum servisinde yatan ve çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden anneler oluşturmuştur. Örneklem, EPI Info programı ile hesaplanarak minimum 193 olarak belirlenmiş, toplamda 207 anne ile çalışılmıştır. Veri toplama sürecinde Birey Tanıtım Formu, Emzirme Öz-Yeterlilik Ölçeği-Kısa Formu ve Doğum Sonu Konfor Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizi IBM SPSS 26 programı aracılığıyla gerçekleşmiş, Bağımsız gruplar için t testi ve korelasyon analizleri uygulanmıştır.
Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan 207 kadının yaş ortalaması 29,96±5,87 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Emzirme sürecinde desteklenen ve sadece anne sütü ile beslemeyi tercih eden annelerin fiziksel konfor puanları daha yüksektir (p<0,050). Sütünün bebeği için yeterli olduğunu düşünen ve emzirme sorunu yaşamayan annelerin öz-yeterlilik ve konfor puanları anlamlı ölçüde yüksektir (p<0,050). Taburculuk eğitimi alan annelerin psikosprituel konfor puanı ve tek kişilik odada kalan annelerin sosyokültürel konfor puanları daha yüksektir (p<0,050).
Sonuç: Annelerin emzirme öz-yeterlilikleri ve doğum sonrası konfor seviyeleri arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olup, emzirme konusunda yeterli destek sağlanmasının her iki değişkeni olumlu etkilediği belirlenmiştir. Bu nedenle, postpartum dönemde annelere psikososyal destek programı içeren emzirme eğitimi sağlanması anne sütü ile beslenmenin sürdürülebilirliğine katkı sağlayacaktır.

The Effects of Postpartum Comfort on the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy and Exclusive Breastfeeding of Mothers in the Early Postpartum Period

Öz

Objective: This study aims to examine the relationship between postpartum comfort levels and breastfeeding self-efficacy among mothers in the early postpartum period.
Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2023 at the obstetrics ward of a university hospital in the Aegean region of Turkey. The study population comprised mothers who were hospitalized in the obstetrics ward and agreed to participate. The sample size was calculated using the EPI Info program, with a minimum of 193 participants required; ultimately, data were collected from 207 mothers. Data collection tools included the Personal Information Form, the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form, and the Postpartum Comfort Scale. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 26, and independent t-tests and correlation analyses were performed.
Results: The mean age of the 207 participating mothers was 29.96±5.87 years. Mothers who received support for breastfeeding and preferred exclusive breastfeeding had significantly higher physical comfort scores (p<0.050). Additionally, mothers who believed their milk supply was sufficient and reported no breastfeeding difficulties had significantly higher breastfeeding self-efficacy and postpartum comfort scores (p<0.050). Furthermore, mothers who received discharge education had higher psychospritual comfort scores, while those who stayed in single rooms had higher sociocultural comfort scores (p<0.050).
Conclusion: A significant relationship was found between breastfeeding self-efficacy and postpartum comfort levels. Adequate support for breastfeeding positively influenced both variables. Therefore, providing breastfeeding education programs incorporating psychosocial support during the postpartum period may contribute to the sustainability of exclusive breastfeeding.
