IDA TEST ANXIETY SCALE: VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDY

Abstract

It was aimed to test the validity and reliability of Ida Test Anxiety Scale (ITAS) on Turkish students' sample. The scale was applied online to 586 students, reached through availability sampling. The validity was checked through Explorotory Factor Analysis (EFA). According to the EFA, the ITAS explained 51% of the variation with 15 items. First sub-dimension (9 items), reffered to cognitive and physiological anxiety had an eigenvalue of 6.3, 6-item second dimension (6 items) reffered to the anxiety cuased by social factors had an eigenvalue of 1.9. The convergent validty of the scale was tested through its correlation with Westside Test Anxiety Scale and Spielberger's Test Anxiety Scale. The results indicated significant relations with both scales. The reliability was tested through Cronbach Alpha and Spearman Brown coefficients and both found adequate. Therefore, it was concluded that the ITAS was a valid and reliable instrument to measure the test anxiety of students coming from eastern cultural background.

AYDA SINAV KAYGISI ÖLÇEĞİ: GEÇERLİK VE GÜVENİRLİK ÇALIŞMASI

Öz

Çalışmanın amacı, Ayda Sınav Kaygısı Ölçeği(ASKÖ)’nin geliştirilmesi ve Türk öğrencileri örnekleminde geçerlik ve güvenirliğinin sınanmasıdır. 24-maddelik aday ölçek çevrimiçi olarak uygun örnekleme yoluyla ulaşılan 586 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. Likert derecelemesindeki ölçeğin yapı geçerliği Açıklayıcı Faktör Analizi(AFA) ile incelenmiştir. AFA sonuçlarına göre Ayda Sınav Kaygısı Ölçeği 15 madde ile toplam varyansın % 51.28’ini açıklayan iki boyutlu bir ölçektir. Özdeğerler dokuz maddelik Bilişsel ve Fizyolojik Kaygı altboyutu için 6.30, altı maddelik ikinci alt boyut, Sınav Sonrasına İlişkin Kaygı için ise 1.91 şeklindedir. Benzer ölçekler geçerliği Westside Sınav Kaygısı Ölçeği ve Spielberger’in Sınav Kaygısı Ölçeği ile sınanmış, anlamlı düzeyde ilişkili bulunmuştur. Ölçeğin iç tutarlılığına Cronbach Alpha ve eşdeğerliğine Spearman Brown iki yarı güvenirlik katsayısı ile bakılmış; her ikisinin de yeterli düzeyde olduğu görülmüştür. Doğu kültürüne uygun bir sınav kaygısı ölçeği geliştirmenin hedeflendiği araştırmada ASKÖ’nin doğu kültüründen gelen öğrencilerinin sınav kaygısını ölçmede kullanılabilecek geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğu saptanmıştır.
