Çalışmada kas-iskelet sistemi problemlerini sorgulayan, İskandinav Kas-İskelet Sistemi Anketi (The Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire-NMQ) kullanılmıştır.

Evaluation of Musculoskeletal System Problems of Badminton Players

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 11 Sayı: 2, 280 - 292, 28.12.2025

Öz

The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the prevalance of musculoskeletal problems seen in badminton players. A total of 71 athletes including 45 women and 26 men voluntarily participated in the study. The Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ) was used to assess musculoskeletal problems in the study. Pearson Chi Square and Fisher's Exact tests were used for the statistical evaluation for the gathered data. The study group consisted of female athletes with an average age of 17.3 ± 3.0 years and male athletes with an average age of 16.4 ± 3.2 years. The body parts where the athletes felt the most pain in the last 12 months were the shoulder and ankle/foot (42.3%), hip/thigh (28.2%), and knee (26.8%). Ankle/foot and shoulder pain were the most common types of pain experienced in the last 12 months (42.3%), while ankle/foot pain was the most frequently reported problem in the last 12 months (26.8%) that interfered with work and in the last seven days (15.5%). A statistically significant difference was found in the frequency of pain in the neck and hip/thigh region over the last 12 months according to gender (P< 0.05). As a consequence, the study results indicate that the shoulder, knee, hip/thigh, and ankle/foot are the most frequently injured areas in badminton players. Training programs should be designed to strengthen the shoulder, knee, hip/thigh, ankle/foot regions and optimize range of motion in the musculoskeletal system of athletes.
