An Analysis of Narrative Texts in Turkish Textbooks in Terms of Structural and Educational Principles
Abstract
In this study, narrative texts in secondary school 5, 6, 7 and 8th grade Turkish textbooks were analyzed in terms of the principle of relativity to the child. The texts were handled in line with design, content and educational principles. Document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. Target population of the study consists of all Turkish textbooks distributed by the Ministry of National Education in the second stage of primary education in the 2018-2019 academic year. As sample, three narrative texts were selected randomly from each stage of the Turkish textbook (5-8th grades) and then they were analyzed. The literary texts in the textbooks were classified according to their genres and their characteristics were determined. Then the texts in the Turkish textbook were analyzed in accordance with the principles specified. At the end of the study, the findings obtained from the literature were given together and some suggestions were made.
