The existence of the Ancient Greek Mythological characters beyond the Antiquity is often related to the problem of fragmentary interpretations of these figures when each of them embodies and characterizes just only one certain feature and represents this feature in the culture. At the same time the richest palette of other elements which is represented with that mythological tradition is almost absolutely ignored. So, Muses are some of the most popular and the most frequently mentioned characters of the ancient Greek mythology. However, almost all that we know about the ancient Muse can be summarized, mainly, with the conception of inspiration, which was for an ancient Greek just a connotation, a secondary element. Whereas the base of these mythologies is an idea of morality, particularly in art. This idea presents an invisible power, which influences and illuminates absolutely all of the phenomena, related to this mythology. These phenomena – the origin and essence of Muses, their relations with other mythological characters, their mythological functions are considered in this work in the context of the Muses’ mythology’s Ethos. The special attention is focused on the problem of the interdependence of such concepts as Muse, a creator, a piece of art, an audience. The problem of the relations between them was elicited with the ancient Greek culture at the very early, an “archaic” period of the Greek history and the first attempt to solve this problem was made in the frames of the Muses’ mythology
ÖZET
Antik Yunan mitolojik karakterlerin Antikite döneminin dışındaki tarihsel hayatı, sıkça bu karakterlerin fragmanlı aydınlatması problemiyle karakterize edilebilir. Çoğu zaman her bir mitolojik karakteri sadece bir tek niteliğiyle tanımlanmaktadır. Diğer taraftan, bu karakter, ona atfedildiği bu özel niteliği kültürel olarak sunmaktadır. Bunun yanında, diğer niteliklerinden oluşan zengin bir paleti tamamen yok sayılmaktadır. Örneğin, günümüzdeki hayat ve kültürde antik Yunan mitolojisinin en popüler karakterleri Musa’lardır. Ancak, çağdaş bir insanın Musa’lar hakkındaki bilgileri genel olarak onun ilham verdiği efsaneden ibarettir ki bu faktör antik Yunan düşüncesi için ikincil, bir tür yardımcı unsur olarak kabul edilmekte idi. Bu mitolojinin temeli ise hayatta ve özellikle sanatta etik ve ahlak ideasıdır. O, bu mitolojiyle ilgili her şeyi etkileyen ve her şeyi aydınlatan görünmeyen bir güç olarak hissedilmektedir.
Musa’lar mitolojisinin tüm bileşenleri – Musa’ların doğuşu ve varlığı, onların fonksiyonları ve diğer mitolojik karakterleri ile etkileşimi bu çalışmada Musa’lar mitolojisi Ethos’u açısından değerlendirilecektir. Musa, şair, sanat eseri, dinleyici gibi kavramların arasında ilişkileri felsefe ve etik açısından incelenecektir. Bu ilişkilerin arasında olan problemleri antik Yunan kültürü çok erken, daha “arkaik” döneminde tespit etmiş ve bu problemin çözümünün ilk deneyimi Musa’lar mitolojisinde gerçekleşmiştir.
