Social traumas, like individual traumas, can also bring along some adjustment problems. Events that ocur due to traumatic causes such as war, natural disaster, and terrorism have the power to affect not only individuals but also the society in general. It is a known fact that there are defeats as well as victories in Turkish history. The Sarıkamış Operation, which lasted for ten days in 1915, ended unsuccessfully due to adverse weather conditions and harsh geographical conditions and many martyrs were given. If the Sarıkamış operation is evaluated from an objective point of view in terms of political psychology, it can be said that it is a chosen trauma. Just like the Balkan wars, it had heavy consequences and received with sadly by th ecommunity. However, due to the ongoing War of Independence, Çanakkale Victory was brought to the forefront in order to provide morale and motivation to the people, while Sarıkamış remained in the background with its sad story. Despite all these negative conditions, the Turkish nation understood the Sarıkamış Operation not as a chosen trauma, but as a chosen victory and embraced it with all its pain and sweetness. At the point reached today, the Martyrs of Sarıkamış are commemorated with the participation of thousands of people every year, and it is aimed to strengthen the social identity from here, to in still a national consciousness in the youth, and to live and maintain the feelings of loyalty by completing the mourning process that could not be held on time. Adopting the method of spiritual-psycho-sociale valuation and analysis of historical data, this research is the first to contribute to the evaluation of the Sarıkamış Operation or the Sarıkamış Epic in terms of political psychology. In the study, three main conclusions were reached based on the example of Sarıkamış in coping with social trauma. The first of these can be listed as the role of space and symbols in coping with trauma, the second the role of values such as patriotism and martyrdom and the role of spirituality in coping, and finally the role of identity construction in the coping process.
