Significant Bacterial Zoonosis of Cats; Helicobacter Heilmannii

The incidence of H.heilmannii bacteria, which has a zoonotic character in cats, has been reported only in the cases by the literatures in both animals and humans. The presence and possible prevalence of this bacterium should not be overlooked, especially in cat owners or people sharing the same environment as cats. H.heilmannii, which can be shown as one of the possible causes of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (MALT) in humans, has a lower incidence in humans compared to cats in studies so far, and it assumes that transmission can generally progress from cats to humans. Cats may have typical symptoms of chronic active gastritis similar to humans clinically. It should not be forgotten that the characteristic morphology of the agent should be determined by staining methods in addition to the Urea breath test, PCR, urease test and gastric biopsy methods that can be used for early diagnosis
