Havacılık Sektöründe İş Tutkunluğu Emniyetli Davranışı Etkiler Mi?

Öz

Havacılık sektörü, sıfır hata yaklaşımıyla potansiyel tehditleri en aza indirmeyi hedefleyen vizyoner bir sektördür. Doğası gereği en yüksek standartları talep eder ve sürdürülebilir bir hizmet anlayışı için güçlü bir tutku ve motivasyon sergiler. Buna karşın, dikkat ve stres gibi birbirine zıt iki yoğun duygunun baskın olduğu havacılık sektöründe, çalışanların işlerine duydukları tutkunun düzeyi ve türünün, bu iki duygu arasındaki dengenin sağlanmasında önemli bir belirleyici olduğu düşünülmektedir. Çalışanların işe olan tutkunluklarının havacılık sektöründeki emniyet unsuruna etkisi konusunda sınırlı sayıda araştırma olması ve sektör çalışanları açısından tutkunun emniyetli davranış ve bireysel çıktılara etkisinin inceleme beklemesi bu araştırmanın gerisinde yatan nedenlerdir. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın amacı, havacılık sektörü çalışanlarının iş tutkunluğu düzeylerinin emniyetli davranış algıları üzerindeki etkisini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu araştırmanın örneklemini Türk sivil havacılık sektörü çalışanları oluşturmaktadır (n=412). Araştırma verilerini toplamak için anket, kolayda örnekleme yöntemi kullanılarak havacılık sektöründeki çalışanlara elektronik olarak dağıtılmıştır. Araştırmanın model ve hipotezlerini test etmek için Doğrulayıcı Faktör Analizi (DFA) ve Çoklu Regresyon Analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre, iş tutkunluğu boyutlarından takıntılı tutkunluğun emniyetli davranış boyutlarından emniyete uyum üzerinde negatif ama anlamlı olmayan, ancak emniyete katılım üzerinde ise pozitif ve anlamlı bir etkiye sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Diğer yandan iş tutkunluğu boyutlarından uyumlu tutkunluğun emniyetli davranış boyutlarından emniyete uyum ve emniyete katılım üzerinde pozitif ve anlamlı bir etkiye sahip olduğu ortaya konmuştur. Çalışma, araştırma bulgularından çıkarılan sonuçlarla son bulmakta, araştırmanın kısıtlarını vurgulamakta ve havacılık işletmeleri ve araştırmacılar için öneriler sunmaktadır.

Does Job Passion Affect Safety Behaviour in the Aviation Industry?

Öz

The aviation industry is a visionary sector that aims to minimize potential threats with a zero-defect approach. It demands the highest standards due to its nature and exhibits a strong passion and motivation for a sustainable service understanding. On the other hand, in the aviation industry, where two opposing intense emotions, such as attentiveness and stress, are dominant, it is believed that the level and type of passion for their work are important determinants in maintaining a balance between these two phenomena. The reasons behind this research are that there is a limited number of studies on the effect of employees' passion for work on the safety factor in the aviation industry and the effect of passion on safe behaviour and individual outputs in terms of sector employees are awaiting investigation. In this context, the aim of this study is to reveal the effect of job passion levels of aviation industry employees on their perceptions of safe behaviour. The sample of this study consists of the employees of the Turkish civil aviation industry (n=412). To collect research data, the questionnaire was electronically distributed to employees in the aviation industry using the convenience sampling method. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Multiple Regression Analysis were used to test the research model and hypotheses. According to the research findings, it has been determined that obsessive passion, one of the dimensions of work passion, has a negative but insignificant effect on safety compliance, but a positive and significant effect on safety participation. On the other hand, it has been revealed that compliant passion, one of the dimensions of work passion, has a positive and significant effect on safety compliance and safety participation, two of the dimensions of safety behaviour. The paper concludes with implications of the research findings, emphasizes the research limitations and offers suggestions for aviation businesses and researchers.
