There are giant coal reserves that could be considered in the western and central Anatolia in Turkey Tertiary basin. Most of the basins containing these coal reserves have a basin feature with an asymmetrical graben structure controlled by a fault. These Tertiary basins, most of which are filled by fluvial, lacustrine and shallow marine (lagoonal) sediments, have gained an asymmetrical sedimentary filling geometry with the effect of sin-sedimentary growth faults limiting the basin. With the effect of the growth faults limiting these basins, the thickness of the coals in the basin and the accompanying sedimentary units gradually increased as they approached the fault, and in some sections very thick coal zones could occur.
