Konaklama Endüstrisinin Geleceği: Rejeneratif Konaklama Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme

Öz

Sürdürülebilirlik, ilke ve uygulamaları ile 21. yüzyılın önemli konuları arasında yer almaktadır. Turizm ve konaklama işletmeleri de dâhil olmak üzere hemen hemen her sektörde sürdürülebilirlik uygulamalarına yer verilmeye başlanmış ve bu durum ülke politikalarında da belirgin hale gelmiştir. İlk ortaya çıktığı andan itibaren turizm akademisyenlerinin ciddi anlamda ilgisini çeken bir kavram olan sürdürülebilirliğin mirasın korunmasından destinasyon planlama ve geliştirmeye kadar turizmin her aktörü açısından gelecek vaat eden bir olgu olarak görülmektedir. Sürdürülebilirlik, bir çatı terim olarak birden fazla bileşene sahip bir kavramdır. Doğa, kültür ve ekonomik sürdürülebilirlik olmak üzere toplumların sahip oldukları kaynakları gelecek nesillere aktarabilmeleri için günümüzden başlayarak önlemler alınması gerekliliğinin altını çizen sürdürülebilirliğin günümüzdeki gelişimi koruyan olmaktan ziyade yenileyen veya yenilenmesine katkı sağlayan bir dönüşüm gerektirmektedir. Bu bağlamda sürdürülebilirliğin, rejenerasyon yani yenilenme olarak adlandırılan bir paradigma ekseninde tekrar ele alınması bir ihtiyaç haline gelmiştir. Rejeneratif (Yenileyici) paradigma turizm alanında da karşılık bulmuş ve rejeneratif turizm olgusu olarak yeni bir paradigmatik dönüşüm altında incelenmeye başlanmıştır. Konaklama endüstrisi de bu bağlamda dönüşümün önemli elemanlarından bir tanesi olarak görülmeye başlanmıştır. Hali hazırda konaklama işletmelerinin sürdürülebilirlik uygulamalarını önemli ölçüde hayata geçirmeye başlamaları rejeneratif konaklama için de bir dönüşümün başlanması yönünde adımların atıldığı bir sürece doğru evrilmektedir. Bu kapsamda çalışmada sürdürülebilirlik, rejeneratif turizm ve konaklama işletmelerinde uygulanabilirliği üzerine kavramsal bir çalışma yapılması hedeflenmiştir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda öncelikle sürdürülebilirliğin içeriği detaylandırılmış, daha sonra rejeneratif turizm olgusunun içeriği ve konaklama işletmelerinde yansımalarına ve kullanılabilirliğine dair yapılan çalışmalar ve modeller ele alınıp incelenmiştir.
