The Effect of Nature Therapy-Enriched Composting Activity on The Anxiety Level of A Gifted Child: A Case Study

Öz

In this study, it was aimed to reduce the anxiety level of one (1) gifted child at the age of eight through composting activity enriched with therapy methods in nature, during the Covid-19 pandemic. The activities were carried out as an out-of-school activity and were completed in 14 weeks. In the activity module applied, the state-trait anxiety inventory, observation notes and individual interview method were used as data collection tools. At the end of the study, the state-trait anxiety inventory pretest-posttest scores of the child were compared and it was identified that there was a decrease in anxiety in favour of the student in the posttest scores. Also compost making; contributing to the sustainability of nature, actively involving the individual in mental and kinesthetic processes; and establishing meaningful connections between daily life skills and natural cycles supported the development of the idea that individuals were a part of vitality.
