Kant with Heidegger: A Dialogue from End to Beginning

This research aims to reinterpret Heidegger’s ontological reading of Kant's critical philosophy, under the focus of finitude. Heidegger claims that, as a major achievement of the Copernican turn Kant has rightly exposed the ontological basis that underlies and becomes the transcendental condition of all experience. Kant had become a pioneer of this radical insight, indicating that the appearances show themselves to the human cognition within a finite representation, which in return necessitates a certain look towards them; an intuition that is prior to experience (pure intuition). This Kantian formulation translates into Heidegger’s terminology as a claim for the ontological priority over the ontic within the act of understanding. This precedence, i.e. the priority of the transcendental structure would then create the possibility of establishing transcendence within a finite ontology. Heidegger, therefore, claims that, as contrary to the epistemological readings that reduce the Kantian project to a mere theory of knowledge, the ultimate aim and direction of Kant’s project can only be understood on the basis of finitude. And only then can it be discovered in its most inner possibilities. The aim of this study is to explicate and bring this finitude-centered reading into a discussion.

Heidegger ile Kant: Sondan Başa Bir Diyalog

Öz

Bu araştırma; Heidegger’in, Kant’ın eleştirel felsefesinde bulduğu ontoloji anlayışını, odağına sonluluğu almak suretiyle yeniden yorumlamaktadır. Heidegger’in iddiasıyla, Kopernikçi dönüşün bir kazanımı olarak Kant, deneyimin altında yatan ve onu mümkün kılan transendental unsurları ortaya çıkarmış ve ontolojik bir yaklaşıma öncülük etmiştir. Ana hatlarıyla bu buluş, tezahür edenin (fenomenlerin) kendini insani bilişe sonlu bir temsil yapısı içinde sunması ve bu temsili meydana çıkarmanın da ona uygun bir bakışı –deneyimi önceleyen türden görünün saf apriori bakışını– gerekli kılmasıdır. Heidegger’in terminolojisi ile ifade edersek, bu, ontolojik bilmenin ontik olanı öncelediğinin Kantçı bir gösterimidir. Bu önceleme hali, bu transendental yapı, aşkınlığı sonlu bir ontoloji dahilinde tesis etmenin de imkânını doğurur. Dolayısıyla, Heidegger’in iddiasıyla, Kantçı projenin nihai amacı ve doğrultusu; onu bir bilgi kuramına indirgeyen epistemolojik okumaların aksine, ancak sonluluk ekseninde anlaşılır ve içsel olanakları bakımından keşfedilir hale gelir. Bu çalışmanın amacı öncelikle Heideggerci okumadaki sonluluk vurgusunu, sonlu düşünmenin asli belirlenimlerini ortaya koymak ve akabinde sonluluk odağında formüle edilen bu yorumun Kant felsefesi bakımından anlamını yeniden tartışmaya açmaktır.
