Effects of The Enriched 5E Model on Students’ Conceptual Change: Astronomy Sample

Öz

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of 5E model enriched with conceptual change pedagogies on students’ conceptual change relate to astronomy subjects. A quasi-experimental research method was used in this study. The sample of this study is composed 72 grade 7 students at Trabzon Mimar Sinan Primary school. Two-tier open ended test question, semi structured interviews and students’ drawings were used in data collection process. Mann-Whitney U-test was used comparisons between groups. Semi structured interviews were conducted with 12 students also these students drawings investigated in depth for conceptual change in experiment group. At the end of the study; it was found out that 5E model enriched with conceptual change pedagogy had meaningful effect on students’ conceptual change (U = 212,5, p<.05) in experiment group compared with the control group relate to astronomy subjects.
