Determining Competencies of Art and Design Students Based on The Problems and Needs Related Preparing Dissertation

Öz

The purpose of this study is to reveal the views of PhD students in art and design education about the problems, needs and sufficiency related preparing doctorate dissertation. The participants of this study were PhD students, national and international art education specialists. The problems determined through the students’ views about the research development process are the subject of thesis, choosing appropriate research method, conducting research method and practice based process and developing visual research based vision related the research. .The results related the field specialists showed that the students need to develop art based viewpoints through the research process based on ‘Interpreting the visual’, ‘Collecting and documenting the visual’, ‘Creating the visual’ and ‘Presenting the visual’ through the research methods.
