Yıl 2016, Cilt: 24 Sayı: 2, 655 - 672, 15.07.2016

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı orta öğretim kurumlarında görev yapacak öğretmen adaylarının fizik alanında çalışan bilim insanlarına yönelik imajlarını cinsiyet faktörü açısından belirlemektir. Araştırmada, Chambers (1983)’ın “Bir Bilim insanı Çizelim” ölçeğine dayalı olarak geliştirdiği ölçek fizik alanında çalışan bilim insanlarına uyarlanarak kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışma Akdeniz Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde Pedagojik Formasyon Eğitimi alan 124 öğretmen adayı üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Toplanan nitel ve nicel veriler öğrenci yanıtlarında tanımlanmış imajların frekans ve yüzdeleri hesaplanarak cinsiyet faktörü açısından karşılaştırması (Ki-kare testi) yapılmıştır. Öğretmen adaylarının cinsiyetleri açısından fizik bilimi ve fizikle ilgilenen bilim insanlarına yönelik imajları açısından bazı benzerlikler ve farklılıklar belirlenmiştir. Çalışmanın bulguları ilk ve orta öğretim fen bilimleri ve fizik eğitimi programları, öğretmen eğitimi programları açısından tartışılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın sonuçlarının, fen bilimleri eğitimi; öğretmen eğitimi, program geliştirme ve öğretim, bilimin doğası, ölçme ve değerlendirme, cinsiyetin öğrenme üzerindeki etkisi konularında çalışan eğitimcilere ve araştırmacılara katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

The goal of this research is to investigate the pre-service teachers’ images of physical scientists to gender. In this study, an instrument was used to elicit pre-service teachers’ images of a physical scientist, a modified version of Chambers’ (1983) Draw a Scientist Test. This study was conducted to 124 pre-service teachers, attended to teacher certification program, from Akdeniz University in Turkey. The collected qualitative and quantitative data were analysed to calculate the frequencies and percentages of some identified response patterns and to compare gender groups using Chi-Square test. Significant differences were found between female preservice teacher’s and male pre-service teachers’ images of physical scientists regarding some aspects. Results of this research will contribute to the researchers and educators studies on science education, teacher education, curriculum and instruction, measurement and evaluation, impact of gender on learning process, and nature of science,
