Öz
The
purpose of this research is to explore the critical thinking attitudes of the
prospective teachers in terms of gender, academic achievement, age, class level
and department type variables. Research data were collected from 326
prospective teachers (197, Female; 129, Male) who have been studied at the
faculty of education of a foundation university in Istanbul. In order to measure the critical thinking attitudes of the teacher
candidates participating in the research, Critical Thinking Scale (CTS), which
was located in the literature. Some
data such as gender, general achievement averages, age, class level and
department type of participants were also collected. In conclusion of Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H tests and
correlation analysis performed on the data, it is revealed that there is a
significance relationship between the critical thinking attitudes of prospective
teachers and department type and academic achievement. The obtained results were evaluated in the light of the relevant
literature.
