İskenderun Körfezi’nde Deniz Suyu ve Sedimentte Oluşan Ağır Metal Birikiminin İncelenmesi

This study performed between August 2001 and July 2002 investigated the heavy metal (Cd, Fe, Cu, Pb, Zn, Co, Cr, Al, Mn ve Ni) accumulations in the seawater and sediment from Iskenderun Bay. Heavy metal concentrations in seawater were found as Cd: 0.0550, Fe: 0.2995, Cu: 0.0652, Pb: 0.6173, Zn: 0.0709, Co: 0.2589, Cr: 0.1689, Al: 0.1875, Mn: 0.1079 ve Ni: 0.2769 mg/l. In the same way, these concentrations were found as 4.4725; 49921; 37.053; 141.63; 232.87; 79.040; 1419.8; 25574; 1304.5; 795.81 in sediment, respectively. According to correlation analyses, significant positive correlations between heavy metal concentrations in the water and sediment were found. According to these results, to prevent this heavy metal pollution threat in İskenderun Bay, taking into consideration the biodiversity in this ecosystem, it is thought that it is inevitable that protective measurements must be started as soon as possible

İskenderun Körfezi’nde deniz suyu ve sedimentteki ağır metal (Cd, Fe, Cu, Pb, Zn, Co, Cr, Al, Mn ve Ni) birikimlerinin incelendiği bu çalışma, Ağustos 2001 ile Temmuz 2002 tarihleri arasında yürütülmüştür. Deniz suyundaki ağır metal konsantrasyonları; Cd: 0,0550, Fe: 0,2995, Cu: 0,0652, Pb: 0,6173, Zn: 0,0709, Co: 0,2589, Cr: 0,1689, Al: 0,1875, Mn: 0,1079 ve Ni: 0,2769 mg/l olarak bulunmuştur. Aynı sırayla sedimentte ise, 4,4725; 49921; 37,053; 141,63; 232,87; 79,040; 1419,8; 25574; 1304,5 ve 795,81, olarak belirlenmiştir. Yapılan korelasyon analizinde su ve sedimentdeki ağır metal konsantrasyonları arasında pozitif yönde önemli korelasyonlar bulunmuştur. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, İskenderun Körfezi’nde oluşan bu ağır metal kirliliği tehdidinin önlenebilmesi için, bu ekosistemde yaşayan organizma çeşitliliğinin de göz önüne alınarak, bir an önce koruyucu tedbirlerin başlatılmasının kaçınılmaz olduğu kanaatine varılmıştır
