In this article traditional main stream ideologies in western communication studies are analyzed in order to test their effects on global communication researches and intellectual context of popular paradigms. The analysis begins with the definition ·of 'ideology' which is assumed significant in approaching to the inquiry of western domination of communication studies. Relying on the comments and findings of the main stream studies such as those of American Pragmatist School, European Critical School and English Cultural School the inquiry extends to the coverage of ideology in these studies and assessments. in this context the role of the auth'ors, international dominant languages (primarily English), monopolistic publishing companies are also discussed . With the effect of all these factors, dominant tııestern ideologies have been relevant in the communication studies of ·the peripheral and semi-peripheral countries. In conclusion, it is argued that the increasing troubles of the world are to be solved with reciprocal display of ideas and studies from which the west and the rest of the world can benefit.
