Analysis of Turkish’s Occupational Accident Rates in the Manufacturing of Rubber and Plastic Product Industry

The manufacturing of rubber and plastic product industry have continued to grow rapidly all around the world. In Turkey, 15771 enterprises will operate in the manufacturing of rubber and plastic product industry in 2022. In this study, occupational accidents of rubber and plastic industry in Turkey were analyzed according to Social Security Institution (SSI) statistics from 2014 to 2022 period. Since SSI statistics were used as a data source, only officially recorded occupational accidents were evaluated. A total of 163 people died due to occupational accidents of manufacturing of rubber and plastic product industry in Turkey from 2014 to 2022. As a result of a total of 18000 occupational accidents that occurred in 2022, a total died of 22 people, 21 male employees and 1 female employee. These data showed that occupational accident rates in the manufacturing of rubber and plastic product industry in Turkey are an important problem, as other manufacturing industries. The occupational accident rates of the manufacturing of rubber and plastic product industry in Turkey showed that new measures should be taken in terms of occupational safety and health to prevent possible occupational accident situations. As a result, suggestions are presented to prevent occupational accidents, considering occupational health and safety requirements in rubber and plastic product manufacturing industry.

Kauçuk ve Plastik Ürün İmalat Sektöründe Türkiye'deki İş Kazası Oranlarının Analizi

Öz

Kauçuk ve plastik ürün imalat sektörü dünya genelinde hızla büyümeye devam etmektedir. Ülkemizde 2022 yılı itibari ile 15.771 işletme kauçuk ve plastik ürün imalat sektöründe faaliyet göstermektedir. Bu çalışmada, 2014-2022 yılları arasındaki Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu (SGK) istatistiklerine göre Türkiye’de kauçuk ve plastik sektöründe meydana gelen iş kazası oranları analiz edilmiştir. SGK istatistikleri veri kaynağı olarak kullanıldığı için sadece resmi kayıt altına alınan iş kazaları değerlendirilmiştir. Türkiye’de kauçuk ve plastik ürün imalatında 2014-2022 yılları arasında iş kazalarından dolayı toplam 163 kişi hayatını kaybetmiştir. 2022 yılında meydana gelen toplam 18.000 iş kazası sonucunda 21’i erkek çalışan ve 1’i kadın çalışan olmak üzere toplam 22 kişi hayatını kaybetmiştir. Bu veriler, Türkiye’de faaliyet gösteren kauçuk ve plastik ürün imalat sektöründe meydana gelen iş kazalarının diğer imalat sektörlerinde olduğu gibi önemli bir sorun olduğunu göstermektedir. Türkiye’de kauçuk ve plastik ürün imalatında yaşanan iş kazaları verileri olası kaza durumlarının önlenebilmesi adına iş güvenliği ve sağlığı açısından yeni tedbirler alınması gerektiğini göstermektedir. Sonuç olarak, kauçuk ve plastik ürün imalatındaki iş sağlığı ve güvenliği gereklilikleri göz önünde bulundurularak iş kazalarının önlenmesi için önerilere yer verilmiştir.
