In the recent years, e-sports has been mentioned more and more frequently as a profession, and the amount of moneybeing spent on it has also increased in a paralel manner. It can be considered as a recreative activity. E-sports has just started to develop in Turkey in the recent times. In our work, we aim to detect how informed Turkish students are about e-sports. We’ve conducted a survey with 162 male and 123 female participiants (285 in total), who are all students at Faculty of Sports Sciences (ages: 22,95± 2,43). They were asked about their demographic characteristics, how often they played digital games, how much they knew about sports and how they’ve acquired their knowledge on the topic. 181 of th eparticipants (63.5%) stated that they’ve never heard of “e-sports”. 30 people (10.5%) have played e-sports before, 11 (2.1%) have participated in an e-sports tournament. The results show that eventhough the participants are all students of Faculty of Sports Science, and of ages varying between 18-33, e-sports is wellknown among them, and players are not much in numbers. E-sports is a sector that has been rapidly developing with each passing day. To realize the potential of Turkey on this subject, and to rise her to the level of her contemporaries, the public’s level of knowledge on the subject should be evaluated in a more detailed manner, and efforts should be made to inform the public about the e-sports.
