In this study, the phenomenon of immigration isinvestigated in the light of the political and economic informationpresented from the perspective of the writer in the period in which theplay was written. In the play, the adventure of a family who is fed up withpoverty and bad working conditions and leaves their house and hometownwith a desire for prosperity is told. By prioritizing the economicren presents his audience thepolitical and economic problems in the period when Turkey made atransition to multi-party system. In this respect, Almanya Defteri is asample work which represents how most of the problems resulting fromthe social and political changes occurring in Turkey in the 1950s arereflected into the theatre. ng ren, identified as one of the first writerss theory of epic theatre, reveals his ideological lineexplicitly through the criticism of the system by this play. However,although the writer overtakes a political responsibility, he does not wanthis audience to accept a political view. Instead, he wants his audience tobe in a critical attitude by presenting the event causing problems in itshistorical conditions

Öz
Bu çalışmada, göç olgusu oyunun yazıldığı döneme dair yazarın kendi bakış açısıyla verdiği siyasi ve ekonomik bilgiler ışığında analiz edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Oyunda yoksulluktan, çalışma koşullarının olumsuzluğundan bıkan, tükenen bir ailenin refaha kavuşma arzusuyla evlerini, yurtlarını terk etme serüveni anlatılır. Öngören, Türkiye’nin çok partili döneme geçtiği bir süreçte, göçün ekonomik boyutunu önceleyerek, ülkenin siyasi ve ekonomik sorunlarını seyircinin eleştirisine sunar. Bu bağlamda, Almanya Defteri 1950’li yıllarda Türkiye’de meydana gelen toplumsal ve politik değişimlerin yarattığı pek çok sorunun tiyatro sanatına nasıl yansıtılabileceğinin örneğidir. Brecht'in epik tiyatro kuramını Türkiye'de ilk kez uygulayan tiyatro yazarlarından biri olarak tanımlanan Öngören, bu oyunuyla sistem eleştirisi üzerinden ideolojik çizgisini açıkça gösterir. Ancak yazar siyasal bir sorumluluk yüklenmekle beraber, seyircisine siyasal bir görüş benimsetmek istemez. Onun yerine, sorunlar yaratan durumu tarihsel koşullar içinde göstererek seyircinin eleştirel bir tutum içinde olmasını ister.
